Members of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity consecrate themselves to Jesus through Mary. It is important to witness a life of the holiness of Jesus Christ, following the example of Mary, the model for all disciples.
Saint Louis De Montfort wrote a book entitled True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary in which he speaks of a special way that we can consecrate ourselves to Jesus by becoming humble servants of Mary. The very heart of this devotion can be summarized thus: Do all your actions by Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary so that you may do them all the more perfectly by, with, in and for Jesus. (cf. True Devotion # 257-265) Let’s put this into practical terms:
By Mary: By obeying her commandment at the Wedding of Cana (John 2: 5) to “Do whatever He [Jesus] tells you.” This involves following Mary’s example, sincerely listening to Our Lord in prayer, and asking to know His will in every circumstance of life, especially the unexpected.
With Mary: Mary’s example and help can lead us to ask for God’s grace, that we might know and do his will. We can do this each time we pray the Hail Mary when we ask her to pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
In Mary: Turn to her as our refuge. As Jesus was hidden within her womb and also hidden with her in Nazareth for the first thirty years of His life, we can ask to always be in her immaculate heart. If we are in her heart, we know Jesus is there too.
For Mary: Do all for her honor. This is always for the honor of her Son. Mary knows how to perfectly please Jesus, if we do all for her honor, she will take our efforts and offerings, perfect them, and present them to her Son.
